Five star success for Duchy holiday homes
Two holiday cottages in the Duchy of Lancaster’s Scalby Lodge development have been awarded five star ratings by Visit Britain tourism board’s Quality in Tourism scheme.
Both the Fortescue and Scarborough cottages have been awarded the honour which promotes only the highest standard of holiday homes by recognising the exemplary quality, sustainability and accessibility of the accommodation.
Located in an idyllic cliff-top setting near the seaside towns of Whitby and Scarborough, the properties overlook the Heritage Coast of Yorkshire and are close to the picturesque North Yorkshire Moors National Park.
The Fortescue and Scarborough cottages accommodate four and eight guests respectively and are finished with the highest standard of fixtures and fittings. They also offer superb accessibility for disabled guests, a factor which helped to earn the first-class rating.
The other thirteen cottages on the site are also of an exceptionally high standard with four star gold accreditation from Visit Britain.
Scalby Lodge was also recently nominated for a White Rose Award in the Self Catering category, less than two years after the Duchy of Lancaster invested £3m in refurbishing the site and its cottages.
