Duchy Offers Exciting New Farming Opportunity To Market
Later this month the Duchy of Lancaster will bring to market a significant farm holding providing farmers with a rare opportunity to secure a large, well equipped mixed arable and grassland farm in a commanding position overlooking Scarborough Castle and the Yorkshire Coast.
Part of the Duchy’s Cloughton Estate, Ripley’s Farm extends to some 631 acres (225 hectares) and includes a substantial 6-bedroomed farmhouse as well as a number of good quality farm buildings suitable for a wide variety of uses. Around 65% of the land is currently down to arable cropping with the remaining grassland currently used for cattle grazing and forage production.
The steading is situated approximately two miles to the north west of Burniston village and five miles from Scarborough benefitting from excellent transport and communication links.
Commenting on the decision to offer the tenancy to the open market, the Duchy’s Head of Rural Christopher Sparrow said: “It is very rare that we have the opportunity to offer such a substantial and well equipped farm to the market as many of our farming tenants remain in these agricultural properties for several generations. Ripley’s Farm is in an excellent and attractive location and has been beautifully maintained by the outgoing tenants.
“We anticipate high levels of interest in the letting and are looking forward to choosing the right applicant. Tenant relationships are very important to us and we will be looking for someone with first-class farming and business skills and a proven track record of sustainable soil and biodiversity management. The successful applicant will also be someone keen to play an active part in the life of the local community for many years to come.”
Available to let as a whole on a 10-year FBT, the Duchy has instructed Savills to manage the marketing process. Initial viewing dates have been set for Wednesday 16th and Friday 25th May and the closing date for tenders is Friday 29th June 2018.
