Strengthening Our Estate Management Team

The Duchy of Lancaster continues to grow the team looking after its rural estates with the addition of two rural surveyors, Olivia Mayo and Robert Noblet-Stone, as well as the appointment of UCL graduate Jeffrey Ma to the post of Land Use Analyst.

Olivia will join Archie Rose in looking after our Yorkshire Survey and Robert will support Lydia Richards and James Pyrah working across our Cheshire and Lancashire Surveys. Jeffrey will be looking specifically at spatial data and mapping to help us build a detailed picture of the existing and potential land uses across all of the rural estates.

Olivia, who is a qualified rural practice surveyor, joins the Duchy after two and a half years at Carter Jonas where she managed a range of rural estates in Yorkshire and the North of England. Prior to that, Olivia spent five years with Savills as a graduate trainee, working in their York and Lincoln offices. She graduated from the University of Reading with a degree in Real Estate in 2015 and grew up on her family’s farm in North Lincolnshire, a mixed enterprise generating arable crops and maintaining a herd of Aberdeen Angus cattle.

Robert, who joins us as a Graduate Surveyor, grew up on a calf rearing and sheep farm in Lancashire. He graduated with a first-class degree from The Royal Agricultural University in Cirencester in June 2022 and then spent 12 months in general practice working for a small of chartered surveyors before joining the Duchy. 

Jeffrey Ma is a specialist in computer mapping and spatial data analysis, who recently graduated from University College London (UCL) with a Master’s degree in Remote Sensing and Environmental Mapping. Before that, he studied Geomatics at Hong Kong’s Polytechnic University where he majored in land surveying. Between his undergraduate and graduate studies, Jeffrey also gained practical experience of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and land use analysis while working as a Land Surveying Graduate at the Hong Kong Lands Department.

Commenting on the appointments, Duchy Head of Rural Investment Mark Coombs said: “I am delighted to welcome Olivia, Robert and Jeffrey to the rural team. We have some exciting plans in prospect, particularly with regard to our drive towards improving sustainability across our holdings and I look forward to helping the teams deliver these in the months ahead.”

The Duchy of Lancaster has a number of rural estates in Cheshire, Lancashire, Staffordshire and Yorkshire, all of which are managed in-house by a multi-disciplinary team based at Lancaster Castle.
