New Council Members Appointed
Following the retirement of Ms Kathryn Matthews, the Duchy of Lancaster is pleased to welcome Mrs Jill May and Ms Lucy MacDonald to the Duchy Council.
Both Jill and Lucy have held a number of senior roles for market-leading companies and organisations in recent years. Jill May’s specific area of expertise is in regulation, public policy, economics, financial services and cybersecurity. She has been a member of the Prudential Regulation Committee for the Bank of England since 2018. Lucy Macdonald has been a global equity investor for 30 years. She brings with her a wealth of experience in investments, valuations, marketing and digital media.
The Duchy Council, which meets five time a year, is responsible to the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster for the day-to-day running and strategic direction of the Duchy’s business affairs. Appointments to the Council are made by The Queen on the recommendation of the Chancellor and those appointed are invited to serve for an initial three-year term.
Commenting on the appointments, Chairman of the Duchy Council Sir Alan Reid GCVO said: “Whilst we are sorry to be saying goodbye to Kathryn, I would like to thank her on behalf of everyone who has served with her on the Duchy Council for her excellent years of service. At the same time, we welcome Jill and Lucy into the Duchy of Lancaster family. I am sure that their experience, expertise and enthusiasm will prove invaluable to Council and we look forward to working with them both in the years ahead.”
